About Me

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (220 grams) lukewarm water (around 40°C)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast (or 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 3 1/3 cups (400 grams) all-purpose flour, or bread flour for a chewier crust
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method:

  • In a large bowl, combine the lukewarm water, yeast, and sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes, until the yeast becomes foamy and active.

  • Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or dough whisk until a shaggy dough forms. If using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment on low speed.

  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Add a little more flour if the dough feels sticky. Form the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  • Preheat your oven to your desired temperature (according to your pizza recipe or preference). Punch down the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Stretch or roll the dough into your desired size and thickness. Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet and top it with your favourite pizza toppings. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Notes:
  • Make sure your yeast is still active
  • Ensure you use LUKEWARM water
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm spot
  • Freeze - you can freeze any unbaked dough for up to 1 month. Allow to defrost in the fridge overnight and then bring to room temperature before rolling and baking.
